Alex & David's Destination Wedding on The Big Island, Kona, Hawaii
This Wedding was a joy to be apart of, photography-wise and just as a person. Everyone who came to this wedding treated me with such kindness and like I was family. It’s always incredible to feel like I am a true and welcomed part of the day and not just a photographer on the sidelines photographing a quick gig.
These two had their first date in the beautiful mountains of Oregon where they both reside. This was a destination wedding for me and for the two of them & their friends and family. Alex is an incredible potter and does this full time in the quaint Rogue Valley. She brought some pieces all the way from Oregon to add a special & personal touch to the day. I thoroughly enjoy photographing these smaller weddings and plan on doing many more this year and next. It was just a down-to-earth celebration and day filled with genuine tears, laughter, and people. Post-Ceremony we left the Airbnb & drove down to the beach for some Bride & Groom Portraits overlooking the bay and I 1000% don’t regret the 23 minute drive. I am blessed to have been the chosen photographer for this Wedding and hope to capture many more humble gatherings like this in Hawaii.

These Day Geckos pretty much were EVERYWHERE. They were in the house, outside of the house, and on all of the plants, but I think they are super adorable. As an Oregon Native I am much more used to see blue bellied lizards and other types that call Oregon home, so this was a unique and fun sighting for me.
Alex has been plant-based for about 8 years. They bought ingredients locally to make this delicious Vegan chocolate macadamia nut Wedding Cake! They also sourced all of the flowers and plants used in the wedding at a local market and on the Private Estate. Her DIY bouquet was gorgeous and cost less than $100.
The skies showered us with good luck on the wedding day. All of the guys downstairs stripped down to their bathing suits and took a warm swim in the property’s pool. I spotted this moment while upstairs taking photos of the Bride getting ready to say “I Do”.
We ended the day with a beautiful sunset even though it rained or sprinkled most of the day, and we even saw a Turtle in the Bay. The sun was shining down on this beautiful marriage that day.
